This project started around a glass of wine and friends.We were wondering how we could help him sell his wine in primeur (3 months to several years before the wine is made). This is all about trust, but this is one of the hardest parts to get. After running reviews, conducting research, and establishing the initial requirements.
During the ideation process, we have found that an NFT wine marketplace could be an interesting answer.
I have designed a large part of the platform and organized its launch.
Several developers and designers have been involved in this project.
After an interview with, the winemaker, a few current clients, F&B professionals, and a survey(targeting future clients). We have noticed that:
- Clients don't like to manage the wine storage
- Clients want more flexibility in managing their stock (especially with Primeur)
- Client wants delivery flexibility
- Client would like to resale/trade their wine easier
- The client wants to be sure of the quality of the product
- Client wants...
The idea to create an online store that allows trading wine directly from winemaker to client/consumer/restaurant started from here. To help our users in the best way possible, we have made:
- 1 NFT = 1 bottle of wine or barrel. It allows tracking of the bottle and its quality.
- Keep a very simple, use our simplified wallet, or use yours. We don't sell NFT, we sell wine, NFT is only the tech.
- Flexible payment, we accept credit cards as well as certain cryptocurrencies.
- We stock the wine for their owner and charge them a trading fee and a delivery fee.
- We allow the winemaker to sell their primeur at the condition of an audit in person to avoid scams.
- We allow winemakers and collectors to put their wine on our platform. Of course, we authentify the wine in person before allowing it to be sold.
During the design phase and development of the app the CEO and CMO also organized an auction sale of the first wine NFT to test the motivation of our clients. All the barrels have been sold within our usual target.

We have tested and launched the platform successfully, we had a few clients. The company and platform have been sold to a competitor recently.
